Three Afghan women in Kabul face similar challenges. Hava lives with her father and mother in law in a traditional family. She is expecting, and her only joy is to talk to her unborn child. Maryam, a television news reporter, is about to divorce her unfaithful husband, when she finds out about her pregnancy. Ayesha, an 18 year old girl accepts to marry her cousin, after her boyfriend disappears when learning about her pregnancy. She needs to find a doctor to get an abortion and restore her virginity.
Born in 1985, Sahraa Karimi is second generation of Afghan refugees in Iran. She graduated with a PhD in Directing. She has made more than 30 short fictions and documentaries. She returned to Kabul after 10 years of directing abroad, and she made two documentaries, bringing her international success and broadcasts through ARTE France and BBC. Hava, Maryam, Ayesha is her first feature film, shot entirely in Kabul with Afghan actors.
