Iran has intermittently experienced waves of migration since the 1979 revolution, as the country plunged into crisis after crisis, ranging from one of the longest enduring wars in the history of mankind to the crippling sanctions that have hampered with basic necessities of daily life! Instigated by the director’s personal introspection on the issue and her failed attempt to migrate at a young age, this documentary explores the Iranian diaspora through the eyes of affected people from different walks of life. Carefully selected from immigrants in a wide range of countries across the globe, the social and geographical diversity of their experiences allows for a deeper understanding of a layered and stratified social culture that has become all the more complex by mass migration. Yet among all the diversity of social experiences, they all seem to share a common longing for the homeland.
